The Launceston Chamber of Commerce has again urged all Members of the Tasmanian
Parliament to consider the very real impact that ongoing political instability is having on
businesses, investment, and community confidence across the state. The consequences are no
longer hypothetical—leaders across several sectors are voicing serious concern about stalled
progress, lost opportunities, and economic risk.
Alina Bain, CEO of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber was fielding
growing concerns from members across industries—from tourism and health to advanced
manufacturing and hospitality. “Today’s political manoeuvring is not what our state needs,” she
said. “Business does not need this distraction. We need leadership, not squabbling. We all have
revenue-generating work to get on with.”
