Northern Tasmania Shines at 2025 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards
On Saturday 30 August, more than 300 guests came together at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston for the 2025 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards, in a sold-out celebration of the very best of Northern Tasmania’s business community.
The Gala was a powerhouse showcase of what the region does best; from a locally inspired menu by chef Peter Twitchett, to premium Josef Chromy wines and James Boag’s beer, topped off with gift bags filled with Tasmanian merchandise. Hosted by MC Rachel Williams, the evening also featured a stirring performance by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, adding to the sense of occasion. The camaraderie was palpable, with businesses, innovators, and community leaders celebrating one another’s success in an evening that reflected the spirit of Northern Tasmania.
Chamber CEO Alina Bain said the event was a milestone in the Chamber’s 175th year “This was more than an awards night. It was a powerful reminder of what happens when business comes together. Tonight we celebrated innovation, resilience, and excellence in every sector; from tourism and technology to health, education, and community service.”
Ms Bain said “The energy in the room reflected the strength of our business community. Northern Tasmania has world-class capability and a unique way of doing business; collaborative, connected, and proud of its people. That’s what makes these awards so special.”
The top honour, Business of the Year, was awarded to Timbre, the Tamar Valley restaurant recognised for its regenerative approach to hospitality and its consistent excellence in service and innovation.
Other major honours included:
– Hall of Fame: Donna Bain
– Life Membership: John Kirwan
– Chamber’s Choice: Du Cane Brewery
– Young Professional of the Year: Dr G. Prashanth Reddy
In total, 17 awards were presented across sectors including sustainability, design, equity, customer service, professional services, tourism, and innovation. Information about Winners follows.
“These winners are setting the benchmark for Tasmania,” Ms Bain said. “They remind us that excellence is not about size or scale, but about vision, leadership, and impact. They are role models for all of us.”
Looking ahead, the winners will now form part of the BEA25 Alumni, sharing their insights, mentoring others, and serving as ambassadors for Northern Tasmania’s business community.
