Previous background includes 13 years in the Tasmanian Public Service (Legislative Council, Treasury and Finance, Department of Infrastructure Energy & Resources and the Department of Health & Human Services). Public sector roles started in finance gradually moving into procurement and centralised functions within agencies (strategic planning, operational planning and ministerial liaison). From the public service Kate moved into the community sector taking up the position of Operations Manager in Colony 47 overseeing a diverse range of services including housing & homelessness, family support, mental health services, settlement services for newly arrived immigrants, a social enterprise and an Australian Apprenticeship Centre. From the community sector, Kate spent 3.5 years as a professional sales representative with Pfizer Australia promoting cardiovascular and pain medications to Tasmanian specialists, doctors and nurses.

Kate joined the Chamber Board in November 2017.

Outside of work, Kate's interests lie in saltwater fishing, scuba diving and camping.
