STUDENTS BRING $$$ MILLIONS TO THE CITY
Launceston is home to 1000s of STUDENTS of all ages – and from many cultures and countries
ARE THEY SPENDING WITH YOU?
There are over 10,000+ teenage and adult students studying in Launceston.
UTAS, alone, has over 6000 students and 25% of them have moved to Launceston from interstate and overseas. UTAS’ combined staff and student population of over 6600 represents 10% of the Launceston population.
ENTICE STUDENTS TO BECOME YOUR CUSTOMERS
To encourage students to ‘buy local’, Chamber members are invited to offer discount deals. Businesses offering ‘meaningful’* student discounts or deals will be promoted to students through relevant websites, digital media, orientation kits and open days.
*Meaningful discounts are those that offer students greater consumer value than offers available to the general public. Only deals that represent a minimum 10% discount deduction will be promoted. The discount may be offered in a range of forms, eg Loyalty programs, buy five get one free, 10% off all products and services, 20% off tourism / adventure activities on weekdays, etc.
The discount would need to apply from December 2012 until December 2013.
Businesses accepted to provide student discounts will be provided with a City of Learning ‘Student friendly business’ decal for front-of-house display and included on website and promotional materials.
