Cumulus Studio is a multi award winning architecture and design practice. The studio was formed by two of Tasmania’s most successful architects Peter Walker and Todd Henderson from a desire to investigate ideas in a collaborative environment and an understanding that great ideas are developed through sharing and working with others.

The studio team consists of 10 designers, including 8 registered architects, split between offices in Launceston and Hobart however, the practice is run as one combined studio allocating staff to projects across the state as required.  This allows flexibility in the size and scope of work undertaken utilising additional staff and resources to workshop design ideas, review projects for quality assurance, and provide contingency backup planning.

Cumulus Studio offers a full architectural service ranging from initial site assessment and concept design through to contract administration and post occupancy evaluation. Each completed project reflects it’s unique aspects, engaging with different forms, materials & spatial organisations developed through analysis of the specific project and place. Fundamentally built into every project is an understanding of environmental and financial sustainability.

Building on the combined experience of over 30 years in the architecture and design industry both directors have an extensive portfolio of built projects with experience in residential, heritage, adaptive reuse, tourism and a number of Tasmania’s most recognisable and successful projects including:

  • Pumphouse Point
  • The Apple Shed
  • Lady Gowrie head office and child care centre
  • Devil’s Corner cellar door and lookout
  • Penny Royal  redevelopment
  • Saffire resort
  • Northbank redevelopment
